Remote Logging
This chapter contains steps to resolve remote logging issues.
 
Symptom/Cause
Solution
No logs are seen in /var/log/messages
If syslog messages are not being written, check whether /etc/rsyslog.conf file contains *.* /var/log/messages. This entry is added by hostpd during start up, irrespective of any logging server is configured.
Also, verify the rsyslogd process is running (pgrep rsyslog).
No logs are seen
The logging to a logfile or syslog depends on the configured logging level. If the logging level is debug then enable “debug <module>”.
